The sacrament of Confirmation entails a personal commitment to grow in the knowledge, love, and practice of our faith, as we gain a new identity as a full member of the Church. By this sacrament, the Christian’s relationship with God is made stronger, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord) are strengthened, and we are called to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world.
To be ready for this responsibility, every Catholic should get prepared for it. This preparation is not a way of “earning” the sacrament; rather, the sacrament is God’s gift to us. Our preparation is the way we show
gratitude for God’s goodness, by striving to appreciate as best we can the gift we are given.
We have divided the catechesis sessions into two parts. The first will help us know our faith more deeply and what we believe in, and the second will focus on how to live it through the liturgy, the sacraments, and prayer.
Following the new directives of the Archdiocese of Boston with regard to Confirmation, students in grades 7-10 will register for our Confirmation program. In 2024/2025, those attending grades 8,9 and 10 will be Confirmed in the spring. Grade 7 students will receive an additional year of preparation and receive the sacrament of Confirmation in Grade 8. Going forward, Confirmation will take place in Grade 8.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your presence at each of the meetings is mandatory. Absences must be duly justified by parents/guardians.
